Christmas Fat Gain – Who Cares?

Merry Christmas all! Just wanted to give a quick post on a few things, the first being about nutrition around this time of year.

It’s tough. There’s a shed load of temptation and tasty junk about that we all struggle to resist. The average man consumes 6000kcals on Christmas Day alone in the UK!

I’d just like to say that I think you should enjoy some food that you would normally feel guilty about for a number of reasons. Firstly, all work and no play makes Jack a Dull boy. This applies to nutrition. I don’t ever think its a good idea to think of food as a reward, but at this time of year when everyone is ploughing through anything in sight, its almost impossible to resist, and you will feel punished almost for not indulging a bit.

If you are on track with your goals then you will actually see some benefits from changing what you eat, and this is actually a nutritional tactic I use with my clients. A large amount of food (usually its calculated quite precisely), will actually up-regulate nutrient uptake as well as your hormones secretion and fat burning. It certainly won’t feel like it straight away though and you will hold on to a lot of glycogen making you look a little bigger for a couple of days. Great if you’re body building!

Quite simply, you have to look at the bigger picture. A couple of cm’s added over the whole of December is not the end of the world. Just as long as you don’t use the WHOLE of December to just give up. It makes it ten times harder come January.

 New Year

So some of you might have seen my cryptic Facebook posts about big things happening next year, and have probably thought, “Oh Bore off you weirdo”. Fair enough, I hate those crappy posts people do as well which are clearly attention seeking. In this case though, I had to wait before I knew exactly what was going on before I divulged, but I was insanely excited to talk about it. Sorry about that.

The news is this. I have been chosen out of a large number of people across the world to become an ambassador for Ben Pakulski’s MI40x program to  be released in the new year. What does this mean?

Ben Pakulski

Well, the world of physique is an ever growing one, and “lifting” in the gym is extremely scientific as I have learnt. There is much confusion in terms of the best ways to put on muscle/lose fat, and Ben is passionate about making life easier by educating people as much as possible.

Bodybuilding/gym programs that you generally find online, tell you pretty much sets and reps and that’s about it. They don’t tell you why you lift those weights in that way, and people just go in to the gym and throw the weight around without ever really understanding why they are doing it.

When you walk in to the gym, you want to make every workout as efficient towards your goals as possible, and this whole project will help you do that. In the last 2 years I’ve put on 5kg of solid muscle using the principles and ideas and have completely transformed my body, (although Im carrying a little fat currently).

So watch this space and get excited, as Ben is regarded as one of the most knowledgeable people in the world of fitness/health and of course bodybuilding and I will be learning a great deal from him.

Personal Training

To finish up, I’d just like to let you know that I will have space for a couple of clients in the New Year. So if you want to get involved with something pretty special, get in contact with me!

Merry Christmas guys, look forward to helping you get where you want to be next year.
