So another Essential Fitness Camp has finished, the first in Southampton Common and what a general success that has been. One of our campers Lucy Lawless lost 13 inches and 9lbs and appears to be very happy with what she has achieved in that first month with us. I am proud of her and all of the other campers, far too many people to mention, but they know who they are and how well they have done.
Health and fitness is a lifestyle that we should all be adopting. Laying on a sofa eating junk food and fizzy drinks is not what we were born to do. In nearly 50,000 years the human has barely changed in terms of physiological evolution and dietary needs.
What does this mean? It means, that 50,000 years ago, we weren’t shoveling McDonald’s, sweets, chocolate, sugary foods, refined carbohydrates and other terrible naughty foods down our necks. We used to live off the land, eating meat, fish, vegetables and fruit. So why don’t we do it now?
I say convenience and lack of education really. Some of the stuff you read these days about diets and exercise is quite frankly frightening. Cambridge diets, 800 calorie diets, Dukan diets etc, they are all awful and will destroy your well being. You might get thin, but at what cost? Lack of energy, bad skin, bad hair, mood swings, lack of concentration, negativity and the list goes on.
At Essential Fitness Camp, and of course myself, we encourage a lifestyle change. Get back to basics. Exercise is fun! Be open minded, how do you know if you don’t try? Every session with my clients, I make sure they have fun. I give them the opportunity to laugh at me as much as possible, which they do frequently (fortunately I can take the abuse). Good nutrition is not expensive, junk food is a false economy! How many times have you eaten junk food, and then been hungry an hour later? Blood sugar levels dropped that’s why! The right foods won’t make that happen.
Update for our Stu! Doing well, although managed to hurt his feet in the Isle of Wight festival the silly boy. I got Stu along to one of our boot camps the other night. Was slightly altered for him, but he pushed himself hard and did brilliantly well. He will pop along to another next week. I have set him a massive challenge for today. A number of bodyweight exercises to be performed in his own time by the end of the day, to get himself back in to the swing of things.
26lbs lost so far with my nutrition plan and exercise routine in just 5 weeks!
Last but not least, Pure Gym Portsmouth opens today. What a great prospect that is. I have a number of clients all interested in completely different aspects of training. I specialise in Fat/Weight Loss, however strength and conditioning seems to be a popular request from the boys wanting to work with me. Cannot wait to get started in that massive sexy gym!
