Hi all, I’ve been asked to share my story with you, so I’ll start by telling you a little of my background. I’m Becci, 28, and before April 2012 led quite a sedentary life in most respects. I was never really overweight but never, like most girls, happy with my body and always had the desire to get properly ‘fit’. I sat a lot, ate a lot, don’t get me wrong I didn’t hate my life but i hated not having the energy or drive to get off my bum and DO, and double dinner had to stop! I went through phases of the gym, classes, badminton (great fun) but never stuck with anything. I desperately wanted to lose some pounds and tone up. Finding Dan’s Boot Camp changed everything, 5 months into that I decided to take it to the next step and lift some weights- I fell in love! Seeing changes in my body were so exciting, definitely caught the bug, like I’d always dreamt 🙂
At this years Body Power Expo, I came across the Miss Galaxy Universe team, spoke with a couple of the girls, took the leaflet away and had a little think- conclusion… no way. But a friend of mine was competing in their next comp, and after seeing her pictures all glam and body beautiful, speaking with my other half and a glass of Dutch courage- I signed up. That was it, a goal, maybe i really could do it to! Doing something like this will surely be excellent for confidence which I often struggle with- in groups of people especially. Gaining confidence in yourself can only be a good thing in every aspect of life.
I now aim to become a fitness model, and hopefully, eventually, a sponsored athlete. My boyfriend and trainer Dan Mitchell has researched and meticulously written out my weight training and carb cycling plan, so I count macros which change to my current body weight. I’m now on week 6 of an 8 week ‘bulk’ – these words we’re alien and intimidating only weeks ago, I’m learning constantly and understand that weight + the bulk do not mean I’ll become a masculine beast! I’m getting stronger week on week, and as each week goes on we re-evaluate from photos, we know I’ve a lot of hamstring work to do, and need to even out my back so single arm exercises are the way forward for now. Also dealing with a misfiring glute and painful lower back can make things interesting. Every day is a learning curve, some good, some bad, some ugly, but the goal stays the same. If anyone reading thinks getting fit it way out of reach, I promise you can do it, anyone can do it– keep a positive can do attitude and you will flourish!
So that’s a bit about my journey so far, the only way is up 🙂 x
