In response to a client who asked me – How do you prep for going away in terms of food.
My answer:
If you are away with work for a week or so, you still can eat “clean” with relative ease.
Most of you will stay in a hotel and be able to put food on expenses. Great news – free food!
Restaurants. More often than not, there isn’t a great deal of choice on the menu, especially if you eat in your room.
So, skip the chinese and eat Steak and Vegetables. There isn’t a restaurant in the world that can refuse your request to skip the chips. If they do, tell them you have celiac 😉
Breakfasts are easy. Bacon and eggs. Boom. Not ideal, but still. There are a million places to get that from. If not, scrambled eggs in your hotel is easy enough right? Just gloss past the continental breakfasts. I mean, who really wants to eat an effing croissant anyway, they don’t fill you up at all.
Lunches. Now these are the hardest parts. You will get presented with lunches when away with business. They are always likely to be sandwiches and some other crap like biscuits and other unedible nasties that will further distract you from your goal.
My tip? There’s a Tesco Express/Metro nearly everywhere you look these days. Go and buy some chicken, some mixed salad/veg, nuts and a cheeky bit of seasoning sauce (damage limitation here) and a 6 pack of Buxton Mineral water. Get some nuts, some smoked salmon for snacks and some berries to snack on.
There can be really no excuse whether you are away or not, and there is just some small ideas as to how to continue with your goal whilst away.
