I’ve been coaching with Dan for over a year now, and this morning whilst I was doing my morning walking some very important reasons to why I am not ready to go solo sprung to mind. See before online coaching I had been yoyo dieting and yolo’ing since I was about 18 perhaps even younger, it’s scary really to think that for around almost 9 years my weight, relationship with food and body had been a constant battle. I was a performer so it was always important to me that aesthetically I looked good as I was on stage most weekends in barely next to nothing (I was a podium dancer). Now I’m not going to ramble on about all the stupid fads I followed because I’m sure we’ve all done stupid diets and had great results, then regained all the weight again! However I stepped into the fitness industry to further my lets call it- healthy obsession with fat loss and fitness. Then after 3 years of bumbling my way through and confusing myself even further it hit me, if I couldn’t help myself how on earth could I keep promising my clients that I could help them?! That’s when I knew I needed professional help…along came Dan aka BALLBAG.
So 1 year down the line, I’ve learnt how to consistently lose weight with a healthy balanced approach, no stupid diet or restriction necessary and boy am I pleased with myself! The next step for me is to try and look a little more aesthetic, gain some more muscle so that when I decide to lose fat again I will overall look leaner and dare I say it…toned.
But why should I continue having coaching when I know HOW to lose fat/gain muscle now??
Well the answer is simple but extremely important. For 9 years I had an unhealthy mindset, I created little demons in my head that told me to binge, to starve and to have a negative emotional connection with food and exercise. It’s something us serial dieters create an absolute mind field of utter nonsense, a battle that some may struggle to understand. So after just 1 year of coaching should I really expect to be ‘cured’?!
NO…is the answer.
I’m pretty sure it takes what 21days to build a habit? Well how about 9 years of bad habits, stress, worry, anxiety, body dismorphia..its not just going to disappear forever just because I lost a few pounds the ‘right’ way is it? No it’s not, those habits are stubborn as hell and some even addictive.
So for me coaching is this, guidance, a method that has enabled me to learn what accountability truly is, to understand that I am solely responsible for my own actions and I am to blame should I self sabotage, a bit of tough love goes a long way, should I be consistently good I am accountable for this also. A coach is a true leader, someone you want to work for and with because you believe in them and they always believe in you, a coach always wants the best for you and no matter what you can always seek their help. You might even consider this as a form of counselling.
So if you have been considering Online Coaching and you’re unsure of what to expect, or even if you’re been contemplating whether it’s right for you…take this from me and my previous mistakes….
I have made the best form of investment, I invested in MYSELF and my HAPPINESS.
